Sigma Haul / Review

I was in no need for more make up brushes and had no reason behind placing this order except from the fact that they are too beautiful to not have in my collection.

I thought id share this mini Sigma haul with you.

E50:

If you're looking for a good brush to apply shadow really easily to your lid, I'd suggest you get Sigma E50. It's a bit larger than the E55, In my opinion, the best of the bunch. Large enough, sturdy enough, and you can pack enough shadow to it.

This is now my fave eye brush. For those of us that might just use an all-over the lid shade and run out the door, this is the perfect brush. It's big and fluffy and soft, but flattened a bit in a way where is just goes where you want it to.
This brush shed quite abit. I used my fingers to gently pinch at the bristles and about 5-6 strands came off. I repeat many times and it continues to shed!!!
This is a very large, flat shader brush. It is fairly soft and when washing I didn't see any bleeding black ink. It is a versatile brush. I use it for a soft wash of colour on the lid or brow bone, putting powder under my eyes to set concealer, and applying highlighter on cheekbones.

E20:

I wouldn't really describe this as a must-have brush, but it's still very nice for detailed work.

I use it for highlighting my browbone, applying eyeshadow on my bottom lashline or smudging eye pencil.
It's especially good for connecting the outer corner of my bottom and top lashline. My eye is rounded and I have long lashes so this can sometimes be a bit tricky because I can't see that outer part really well, but this brush helps make a precise line.
I've had it for a few months and washed it several times, both with soap and makeup remover, but no hairs fell out.
It's not the softest brush in the world, but I noticed no scratching or irritation whatsoever.
Also, it hasn't lost its shape at all.
All in all, I would recommend it to those who use a lot of eyeshadow and like more elaborate looks or do makeup on others.
As I said it's not an absolute must have for everyone, but I really enjoy using it and it has proved to be quite handy on a lot of occasions.

This is another amazing brush, It's great for blending in your upper and lower lash line, good for creating a smoky eyes without any messy fallout!

The Sigma 3DHD Kabuki and Precision Brushes are multi-functional tools invented by Sigma and engineered to perfection. The 3DHD Kabuki was uniquely designed for all areas of the face to apply liquid, cream and powder products uniformly on every curve, crease and angle; while the 3DHD Precision brush was uniquely designed for smaller areas of the face.
The point of the brush allows for precise application, which I think is awesome! If you need to get into the creases of your nose or just below the eyes and lips, the bristles are sure to get those hard to reach places. I like to get my foundation and concealer right up to the rim of my eye to cover up discoloration. This intense point allows me to do so. If you’re a makeup artist, its so easy to use on other clients, as without a precise brush, it can sometimes be a bit difficult with other brushes. While we always end up making it work, having a tool to make life easier is always great!
I can pretty much say the same thing about this brush that I did for the Kabuki. It’s rare that I use a brush to blend in my concealer, as I opt for a Beauty Blender, but again, if you really want to get close to the eye, it’s great. If you like creating those eye looks with a sharp edge, applying concealer with this brush just below the shadow is easy and you don’t have to worry about messing it up.  Furthermore, if you need to clean up around your lips if you have smudged your lipstick or need a sharper edge, it’s small, precise design makes it easy to achieve that look.

F92:

The Sigma Beauty Extravaganza Collection is a lavish assortment of one of a kind, brushes with 18K gold plated ferrules. The Extravaganza Face Kit features four unique brushes specially designed to deliver a luxurious makeup application

Blush - F92 Perfect for application of powder blush. Also ideal for shading and highlighting cheeks and face. Natural bristles.
Because it's flat, I can use this not just for applying a blush but also I can highlight with it. If you put it next to F95, you'll see that it's actually a very normal sized brush (F95 is huge). Again, the bristles are soft and I am glad it's not very dense. A dense brush tends to pick up too much of the product (especially when you're dealing with loose powder blush) and you can end up looking like a clown. I personally think a flat brush is better at applying a blusher compared to a round one because when your brush is flat, your application becomes easy and precise.

B05
There were a couple of times last summer after getting some sun that I needed to find an easy way to blend my foundation’s color with the color in my neck because it looked way lighter than my face. I looked at some videos in youtube an saw this particular brush which seemed to be exactly for this purpose . So, I decided to give it a try. I’d had a very good experience with this brand so far so I was hoping this would also be a good brush.

This is such a unique brush! First of all, the bristles are really soft even after a couple of washes. It doesn’t scratch my skin at all, which is great for sensitive areas like the neck. This Sigma Body Brush, like the name says, is perfect to apply products to the arms, shoulders, chest, legs… anywhere you can think of. My favorite use for it is to blend my foundation all over the neck and chest so that everything is even and the makeup looks polish. This brush has such a dense head. Because of its size if perfect to cover large body areas.

I haven’t used any other brush like this before, so I found it quite unique. The fact that it’s so soft, so dense and so big
make it ideal for blending any product, whether it’s a powder or a cream, specially in large areas like the chest and neck. If you are constantly getting a lot of sun and find yourself doing a lot of blending between your face and any other part of the body you may want to consider this brush. Otherwise I can’t think of any other way you could use this brush.

E25:

When placing my order with Sigma I had the option of choosing a free gift, I chose the E25 in a mini and I also purchased the full sized version. I had purchased this brush a while ago and ended up loosing it when I was on holiday, so it was only right for me to repurchase it.

As the name states, this is a blending brush for eyeshadow but over the years, I’ve found that it does a lot more than just blend shadow.
If you don’t want your under eye concealer to look cakey, you can use a brush like this to apply the product. It gives a lighter coverage and a more diffused look to the skin. You’d be surprised you know. Natural hair really does apply cream and powder product better and more evenly to the skin, with a lighter more natural appearance. At least that’s my experience which is why I prefer using natural hair brushes.

This Sigma E25 Blending Brush has also been touted to be a dupe of the MAC 217 blending brush but as I do not have the MAC one I am unable to compare. I do have another 2 brushes that look the same in my stash so I’ll show them to you below.

All in all, I’d say that this is a good brush to have in your brush stash. It is multi-functional and performs well, plus holds up well to washing. I’ve had this one for a few years and the bristles still wash out fairly clean with just soap. I couldn’t complain really!

The E25  brush is a blending brush with white natural hair bristles. i personally find that the brush is quite dense, yet fluffy enough so you can use it to blend colours and edges. I personally use this brush to apply concealer under my eye area.  in my opinion it is a great multi purpose brush, great value for money.

Have you tried any of these brushes? Are there any you'd recommend?

COCONUT Oil - Tips and Tricks

Coconut oil is becoming more and more popular and is mentioned more today than it ever has done. Coconut oil has been used for years and years in Asia, not only in their cooking but girls have been using it as part of their beauty regime for years, now in the West, this has become the latest trend and is being rated by celebrities everywhere. Not only is Coconut oil known for the new trend of oil pulling but also can be used in your kitchen, on your body, teeth and skin! All methods have been tried and tested by me.

Here are my top 5 ways to use Coconut oil.

1- Oil pulling has become very popular the past couple of months, loved and used by many celebrities worldwide. I am sure most people do not really know what products really work anymore and which are just a well advertised craze, especially ones celebrities are constantly advertising and promoting (#spons) However the thing is.. Coconut Oil actually works!
Mix a small amount of baking soda and coconut oil. Healthy, clean, fresh and whiter teeth in no time..and..with no added nasty chemicals! Give it a try!

2  - Coconut oil can be used as an all natural lip balm, Simply dab a small amount of coconut oil on dry or chapped lips and watch the transformation. Coconut oil is known to be a very hydrating oil that has the power to combat chapped lips in no time!
If you love coconut oil as much as I do and want to carry it on the go, why not dab some into an empty lip balm pot, miniature jars or  even a contact lense case?

3- Coconut oil can be used as a body scrub/exfoliator which is very beneficial not only does it it get rid of old skin cells or any clogged up pores it is  significantly hydrating! Which means great moisture for your skin..why not?

To create the scrub is super easy! All you need is your prefered amount of coconut oil mixed together with roughly the same amount of sugar or salt! I personally prefer to use brown sugar.. Trust me on this one.. youre going to love it. This is great to do in summer as it keeps your skin feeling silky soft and hydrated.

4- The same with using it on your skin, Coconut oils  hydrating benefits works wonders for hair.. especially dull frizzy hair like mine!
It is an AH-MAZING moisturizer for dry, lifeless damaged hair .. if you’ve got a million and one  split ends like me.. you have to try this.

I like to use coconut oil as a deep conditioner/Hair mask before I shower, If I have the time, id leave it on for about an hour or so before stepping in the shower. Less is more with coconut oil, it can get a little greasy and can weigh down your hair if you use too much of it.

5 - Yes..tried and tested..Coconut oil is one of the best makeup remover I have ever used!
Dam some coconut oil on a cotton ball, and wipe it all over your face ..and watch the makeup melt away.. even the toughest waterproof mascaras has nothing on my beloved Coconut oil. and again.. no added nasty chemicals! love it.
Remeber.. a Little goes a long way.

Coconut oil is affordable and can easily be found in jars of hard oil or sprays, these can be found in your local supermarket, health stores and is easily found online.

Let me know how you use Coconut oil? Share this post if you found it useful!

Ciaté X Olivia Palermo - Review and Swatch

My style icon, The Beautiful and sophisticated Olivia Palermo has just launched her first collection for Ciate
Olivia is set to launch four collections this year as she currently holds the role as Guest Creative Director for Ciaté.

The packing for this collection  is right up my ally. I'm a sucker for all things gold! its sleek, chic and feminie.
Of course being a special edition they are more expensive than your normal Ciaté polishes that retail for £9.  The Olivia Palermo range retail for £17 and are available online and in stores now.

Olivia has chosen three shades, that in my opinion are very safe.. not that I'm complaining. i have burst where i get creative and experiment with different colours on my nails.. However, i always find myself crawling back to my nudes and reds; hence why i love this collection. Olivia has launched a Nude, Red and Coral. I love Ciaté polishes overall as they are known for their colour pay off. Opaque, thick and most importantly for me, very glossy.. (Most of the times i can get away with not using a top coats with Ciaté polishes)

The three shades are Sunday's - Her 'off duty nude', Hutch - Her 'go to red' and Nantucket - Her 'haute vacation coral'.
I Purchased " Sundays "  online and fell in love with it so much that I immeditaly jumped back online and purchased the rest of the collection. I love a good nude. Optically this one, i love its gel-like thickness. Nudes are my go to colour; especially when tanned! They give you that girly yet sophisticated look and you can wear it with anything! (I have this weird thing that if my nail colour doesn't match with my clothes.. i will take it off)

I feel that Olivia played it safe, yet sophisticated for her first launch, I was expecting something more. however will just have to wait for the next collections to launch, I'm sure she will shock us and give us that something special, different and unique.
Do you think you'll be getting your hands on these polishes?

Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon - Review and swatches.

At first it took a lot of convincing.. £19 for an eyeshadow?! really Eman..? I lost to the voice in my head and eventually ended up purchasing all eight!  X_X (Over the space of a few months)
Trust me once you get yourself to a Charlotte Tilbury counter you ask yourself why you never had before.

I can't express how much I love, love, love, love, LOVE the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleons! I particularly am obsessing over two colours Golden Quarts and smoky Emerald having hazel eyes I feel that Charlotte really hit the nail on the head as these colours are amazing. every time I have worn them I get numerous questions and compliments.

The main downfall I have experienced is that they need to be sharpened after almost every use; Given the super silky soft texture. Because of this you will lose some product with every sharpen.. but.. we knew this already.. and it doesn’t bother us right??? well… it kind of bothers me.. but then I realise that I don’t finish a lot of make up that often as I move onto the next! I personally feel that they work with or without a primer. Application of the pencils is great, I kinda just scribble everywhere! They can be quite harsh and rough to blend over the lid which is why id promote in using a primer as a base first.

Tried and tested - They are easily removed with an oil cleanser and they don’t stain the eyelid!!! This kind of result always makes me happy!I just wish they invested in better caps on the pencils as they are not very secure! Mine tend to end up under my bed or lost somewhere in that never..ever... ending bag of mine! They are by far the best eyeshadow pencils I have every tried. very creamy, soft and pigmented.

Smoky emerald has a blackish emerald base with Gold, Lime AND Pink Shimmers. It is pure lush! Golden Quartz has a more brownish background with goldfish shimmer. The colour chameleons lasts for around 10-14 hours without budging, which is their main selling point. You really won't believe it until you try it! even I was a bit spectacle at first.

Natural lighting. Form Left to right : Golden Quartz and  Smoky Emerald
Artificial lighting. Form Left to right : Golden Quartz and  Smoky Emerald

Its really hard to choose as they are all so so beautiful but but but if I had too..id say out of the eight id say Smoky Emerald and Golden Quartz have the best colour pay off, the best texture of the 6 shades, they are rich in colour and are very. opaque and best of all.. no patchiness - Wooo! These two colours especially never leave my makeup bag.. I carry them with me always. They are such game changers!I found that the key to using Colour Chameleons as an eyeliner really comes down the brush used with the product.

Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils are , £19 each and some in a range of eight colours there are four colours recommend for day and four colours for night to suit all eye colours.                 Golden Quartz and Smokey Emerald are the day and night Colours recommend for Hazel eyes
Champagne diamonds and Black diamonds are the day and night colours recommended for Blue eyes.
Dark Pearl and Amber Haze are the day and night colours recommended for Brown eyes.
Bronzed Garnet and Amethyst Aphrodisiac are day and night colours recommended for Green eyes.

I purchased mine at the Selfridges, London counter.Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Have you tried the Colour Chameleons? What are your thoughts?

The Balm cosmetics -Nude ‘tude Eyeshadow Palette - Review and swatches

I have been avoiding purchasing another eyeshadow palettes.. I really don’t NEED anymore… but.. who was I kidding? it was obvious I was going to cave in. And Im happy I did. This palette is beautiful. Since I purchased this pallete about a month ago now; I have found it very hard to put it down.

I thought id share my thoughts and some swatches that could be helpful for those who are considering purchasing this palette. This palette is available widley on the internet. I personally purchased mine through Urbanoutfitters.com.

This palette holds a mix of cool & warm tones. There are a few shimmery colours; also a couple matte ones too. There's a peach, a pink, white, gold, a couple taupe shades, a mix of medium brown shades, plus cranberry, dark brown, and a black. The variety of colours and texture, you really get your moneys worth with this palette as it is versatile and as mentioned before good for travel.

I love neutral eyeshadows ( A bit too much!) personally I prefer matte looks for day and shimmer for more evening/going out looks. This palette mostly has shimmer shades, however there are 4 matte shades in this palette too (Sultry, Sexy, Serious, Sleek).

The eyeshadows themselves are super silky soft & must I say quite delicate. They have an amazing colour payoff, I believe the colours are beautiful and really work for all skin tones. The lighter colours are definantly perfect for “on the go” easy day make up looks. the darker shades work great for smokey eye looks.

Included in this palette is a small brush, I prefer to use my own brushes; so I am yet to try it out, There is also a long mirror on the palette which I LOVE! great for when your on the move.

My favourite colour of the palette is Sultry.. it really compliments my skin tone and is the PERFECT colour for an all over lid look.

I have included some swatches of the eyeshadows on my arm in daylight. I have with and without flash swatches.

Not believing in yourself? Giving up?

I for one know what it feels like to not believe in yourself and hit the back seat. Do you ever get those days where you take a look and you ask yourself, if they can do it.. why can't I?

We are coming up to a new year, new begins, fresh starts, new dreams, goals and aspirations. perfect time to start whatever it is you want to do, right? Well why not start now?

I woke up today before anyone else was up, made myself some yummy hot chocolate, wore some fuzzy socks and snuggled downstairs on the sofa with some blankets and began to think. Am I truly happy? I asked myself. What is it I really want? I questioned. Where do I see myself in 2 years, furthermore .. where do I want to see myself in 2 years?

I had many thoughts and voices going around in my head. I was so angry at myself, I realised how lazy I had got, or maybe not so much lazy maybe I had lost all faith in myself and had just given up?

Soo.. I jumped up of the sofa and told myself, " I'm going to do it, No giving up" Whatever it is I have to do to fulfil my dreams and be where I want to be I knew that I had to give 100% not saying I never did, but this time, no giving up. I reminded myself that everybody started somewhere, And that somewhere for me was today.

I felt inspired in so many ways. and here I am, I want you to never give up, push yourself always, sometimes when you think you are ready, you're not, and it takes sometime.. But.. when you  know.. you know!

I also felt inspired in other ways today.. I baked a wholegrain multi-seed loaf. Fresh out the oven, topped with some butter and Marmite.. and Oh wow.

Here's a picture of my loaf fresh out the oven… may not look the prettiest but tasted the yummiest! Let me know if you would like the recipe to try the bread for yourself <3

January Favourites: Skin Care Products/Review

The part I love the most about January and am guilty of doing the same every year, is splurging out on skin care and beauty products, to help kick off my new year with a new skin routine and change. However some would disagree and say its just another excuse for me to shop….and they are most probably somewhat right! Here are a few products that got me.

One of my all time loved and trusted brands for skin care is La Roche-Posay. Need I say more?

Two of their products that stood out for me this month as hard as it is too choose, were;

Gommage Surfin Physiologique

This particular fine scrub is from their Physiological product line. Its basically a series of cleansers that are specially formulated to purify and smooth sensitive skin at the same time not causing damage to its physiological balance.

Most La Roche-Posay products are free of soap, paraben, colorants and alcohol. My skin doesn't do too well with products that contain alcohol and thats why I find myself constantly returning to of La Roche-Posay. on top of all their amazingness in a bottle found in their Physiological line, they are pH balanced and  contain their very own thermal spring water to soothe the skin for optimal tolerance.

This scrub is very soothing and very fine. It has a cooling effect on the skin, I personally love this in a scrub, it wakes my skin up, especially after a long day!  This scrub was not rough on the skin and did not have too many beads as sometimes I can find this overwhelming in a face scrub! Theres a luxurious feel to the product when in the exfoliating process, not much product is needed, remember, less is more.

Nutritic Intense Riche

An exciting element to this product is that its the first moisturiser from La Roche- Posay to come in a glass jar.   I myself am an OCD freak and hygiene obsessed, hence why I try to stay far away from products that come in jars and pots; However I just couldn't resist this one. I'm the kind of girl that hates to change her face cream as it always ends up in a disaster. La Roche-Posay is usually kind to my skin, so I knew I had nothing to worry about.

This cream has a very thick constancy. With this one, a little really does go a long way.  When applying the cream to your face, it feels very light, cool and fresh. It easily absorbs in to your skin, doesn't leave that sticky feeling and smells great! I like to use this cream at night as a mask, the feeling of the morning after is just priceless. Try it, you won't regret it!

Bioderma Crealine H2O - 25 Dermatological Wipes

We all get those lazy nights where we just want to jump in bed and avoid the whole make up removal routine. Me myself I am a sucker for face wipes, I love them! However, I've tried some that just weren't doing the job, some that were too wet for my liking, some that were over priced and how could I forget about the ones that left my face lovely and dry!?  A few years ago when I was in Paris stocking up in a pharmacy on my very much loved Bioderma H2O Micelle Solution. I noticed they had a face wipe version that contained the same solution but on easy to use towelettes. Not the cheapest out there; but worth every penny, They leave your face feeling so fresh. One towelette can clean my entire face, for me this is shocking as i was so used to using 2-3 in one go. Just like the very raved about Bioderma H2O, these wipes are magic, since then, I have not used any other wipes for my face but these. <3

Its a typical February afternoon in London, the sky is dark and grey, its raining, theres a gloomy atmosphere. I sit here with a blank mind,  A blank image. all I can hear is the sound of the strong winds passing by my window.  I have that feeling of not knowing where to go or what to do.
