Gerard Cosmetics - Review and Swatches

Today I’m going to be sharing with you my thoughts on the most talked about Gerard Cosmetics famous lipsticks! Their most desired shade is in 1995, It is actually a collaboration with world-famous makeup artist/Youtube guru Jaclyn Hill, and the CEO of Gerard Cosmetics, Jennifer Gerard.

1995 brings back the neutral brick classic brown lips that the supermodels wore in 1995.

At the moment I own 5 shades in their lipstick range; Underground, 1995,Buttercup,Nude and Berry smoothie.

I order from their USA website, however recently found out that  Cocktail Cosmetics online now carry GC  which means faster access for us in UK and Europe. (I’ve just placed another order to complete my collection!)

In terms of shade, Underground is a beautiful dirty pink with undertones of lilac and mild brown, 1995 is a light terracotta burnt brown with pink undertones, Buttercup is the sweetest baby pink shade. Nude to me is the perfect everyday shade, a more coral peachy tone nude, perfect for that golden summer look; And finally, Berry smoothie is exactly what the name says, its a juicy berry pink tone thats mild and sophisticated.

What I personally love about GC lipsticks about from the sleek, classy GOLD packaging is the formula.They do vary in finish however are all very pigmented and have amazing lasting power.

Texture wise, I found that 1995 Nude and Underground are more matte in comparison to Berry Smoothie and Buttercup, which  have a more creamy texture.

The matte lipsticks are not too overpowering which is great as they do not dry out my lips like others. I tend to always prep my lips before using matte lipsticks.I can go around 5 hours without any touch ups. Due to the creamy texture I found that Berry smoothie and buttercup did not last as well especially if I had been eating or drinking. from my experience, a second application made the colour last longer as they leave a slight stain behind as it starts to wear off and for this reason found it just works best second time round and really builds up the colour.

Out of the 5 lipsticks, Nude is my favourite; not only because Im a Nude lover yet simply due to its flexability of wear. I like to mix it with other shades and is the perfect base if you like to apply lipgloss on top of nude lippies like I do!

This may sound strange.. to me the lipsticks smell like Crayons.. odd i know, however i don’t really pick up any other scent notes other than a very faint touch of floral. its simply and not overpowering.

COCONUT Oil - Tips and Tricks

Coconut oil is becoming more and more popular and is mentioned more today than it ever has done. Coconut oil has been used for years and years in Asia, not only in their cooking but girls have been using it as part of their beauty regime for years, now in the West, this has become the latest trend and is being rated by celebrities everywhere. Not only is Coconut oil known for the new trend of oil pulling but also can be used in your kitchen, on your body, teeth and skin! All methods have been tried and tested by me.

Here are my top 5 ways to use Coconut oil.

1- Oil pulling has become very popular the past couple of months, loved and used by many celebrities worldwide. I am sure most people do not really know what products really work anymore and which are just a well advertised craze, especially ones celebrities are constantly advertising and promoting (#spons) However the thing is.. Coconut Oil actually works!

Mix a small amount of baking soda and coconut oil. Healthy, clean, fresh and whiter teeth in no time..and..with no added nasty chemicals! Give it a try!

2  - Coconut oil can be used as an all natural lip balm, Simply dab a small amount of coconut oil on dry or chapped lips and watch the transformation. Coconut oil is known to be a very hydrating oil that has the power to combat chapped lips in no time!

If you love coconut oil as much as I do and want to carry it on the go, why not dab some into an empty lip balm pot, miniature jars or  even a contact lense case?

3- Coconut oil can be used as a body scrub/exfoliator which is very beneficial not only does it it get rid of old skin cells or any clogged up pores it is  significantly hydrating! Which means great moisture for your skin..why not?

To create the scrub is super easy! All you need is your prefered amount of coconut oil mixed together with roughly the same amount of sugar or salt! I personally prefer to use brown sugar.. Trust me on this one.. youre going to love it. This is great to do in summer as it keeps your skin feeling silky soft and hydrated.

4- The same with using it on your skin, Coconut oils  hydrating benefits works wonders for hair.. especially dull frizzy hair like mine!

It is an AH-MAZING moisturizer for dry, lifeless damaged hair .. if you’ve got a million and one  split ends like me.. you have to try this.  

I like to use coconut oil as a deep conditioner/Hair mask before I shower, If I have the time, id leave it on for about an hour or so before stepping in the shower. Less is more with coconut oil, it can get a little greasy and can weigh down your hair if you use too much of it.

5 - Yes..tried and tested..Coconut oil is one of the best makeup remover I have ever used!

Dam some coconut oil on a cotton ball, and wipe it all over your face ..and watch the makeup melt away.. even the toughest waterproof mascaras has nothing on my beloved Coconut oil. and again.. no added nasty chemicals! love it.

Remeber.. a Little goes a long way.

Coconut oil is affordable and can easily be found in jars of hard oil or sprays, these can be found in your local supermarket, health stores and is easily found online.

My Top Five nail polishes for summer! Review and swatches

Decisions, decisions, decisions, finding the right nail colour is difficult in itself, deciding which one to wear is even harder! I have a huge passion for nail varnish and have a huge collection to go with it! This review is not sponsored in any way and is simply my opinion on my top five polishes that I like to have on my fingertips in the summer when tanned!

P.S please excuse the messy manicures.

Essie:Allure

I think i’ve repurchased this bottle about 9 times so far? This is my go to colour.3- 4 light coats and I have achieved the perfect colour. Its a classic colour, you won’t go wrong with this one. It was actually created to act as a universal sheer which could work on any skin tone; and in my opinion I feel it does suits every skin tone as you can build out the colour or have it as light as you want. This polish is a silky sheer beige. Essie are used worldwide in a majority of small or big salons, they are known for their beautiful formulas and pay off.

Allure was even worn mixed with a pale pink by Kate Middleton during her royal wedding!

When tanned this colour looks AH-MAZING on. It's a game changer for sure, I could not do my top 5 nail colours for summer without including this, every time I have this on the compliments are never ending. (not that thats a bad thing :-p)

I myself know underneath what may look like a perfect manicure is tired brittle nails that tend to have discoloured, so for me 3-4 coats really goes a long way.

In the swatches I have used 4 thin coat, it evens out the colour of all my nails I am always very pleased with the results after applying this colour on my nails. very classy, neat and polished, non streaky sheer polish.

I can’t say enough about this polish except go go go and get your hands.. or should I say nails on one of these little bottles of joy!

Essie:Fiji

Another love affair with Essie.

I ADORE Essie polishes. no complaints ever. I have a nail polish hoarder problem going on, however I still manage to really spot out the ones I love, this colour is one that stands out in my collection ( maybe because I have about 8 of these bottles laying around i’m not sure!).  Fiji has the most beautiful stunning milky pink shade with a strong white undertone to it. 

The finish is very opaque and  creamy with no glitter or shimmers which is something I love in a polish. Essie polishes are known to have a very shiny finish however I still like to use top coats to give it a longer lifetime. Fiji gets compared to O.P.I Mod About You alot however I found that but Fiji is definitely more white toned and a lighter shade of pink. I prefer Fiji for sure. There’s a girly soft touch to Fiji, it is very feminine and classy. The perfect nude. Whenever I have used this when tanned it definitely enhancers the tan which is a bonus!

There have been some negative comments about the consistency of Fiji, However I have never found it a major issue, I always ensure I shake the bottle well before use, apply a thin latter, let it then then apply a thicker layer which helps prevent streaking.  Be patient! I love to apply a thin layer of Top-Coat on top of fiji to give it that extra kick!

DIOR:Rose Flamboyant / Blazing Pink

I know you maybe think this is quite a dark shade for summer Eman??? Dark shades can also be worn in summer and look good! especially ones with red undertones.

This Dior Venis polish in ‘Rose Flamboyant’ or also known as ‘Blazing Pink’ is a berry pink shade with vibrant red undertones.  I have stopped wearing the brights and neons for summer, who knows I may get back into them, it  really depends who what where and when, However lately I like to keep my nails very classic and simple shades that are versatile and don’t clash with what I wear.

I go for classic nudes or elegant berry/red tones and this is exactly that. This shade is not dark enough to be a winter tone for me yet light enough for that summer evening elegance. it is a very romantic shade and I adore it.

I love love love Dior polishes, they surprisingly have great colour pay off and las a good 5 days without chipping. I am so impressed with Diors shade range, I know there are not the most affordable polishes in the market, yet I happily re-purchased a range of colours from Dior as they worked so well and invested in timeless colours that can always be worn. I have not felt the need to wear a top coat with Dior polishes, and that for me speaks for itself.

In my swatches for this shade I used two coats only. pigmentation is to the fullest.

Essie:Lilacism

Why does Essie always do this for me ?? Or is it me doing it to myself?? that is the question…?

I tend to always gravitate towards the nudes in any nail polish counter displays. I was on the look out for a milky not to bright yet soft lilac; and then I found Lilacism.

It really was love at first sight. At first I was unsure if wearing lilac on my nails would look odd, however I was wrong… very wrong. I constantly wear this shade - not only in summer. Lilacism is a pretty pastel. the swatches of this shade really does not do it any justice, in person it is amazing. very light, dusty mild milk purple shade with blue undertones.

Again with all Essie polishes shiny finish is a bonus. Lilacism is very feminine indeed, its known that when tanned milky nudes encher your colour, however I found that Lilacism went that extra mile and I feel like it was due to the blue undertones? The colour payoff is stunning and looks so so good on golden skin.

In this swatch I used two coats only! pigmentation is great, definitely give the bottle a good shake as this is quite a watery formula that dries quickly.

I always get excited when I see this colour, especially if it has been a while since i’ve last  worn it.

O. P. I: Don't Bossa Nova Me Around

OPI Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around from the Brazil Collection is a great clean fresh shade. I recently ditched fun colours and have started to really appreciate natural nail looks as I grow older. They just have this was of making you (and your hands) look very lady like and elegant.

Its a bonus that nude shades will always match whatever colours of clothing you’re wearing.

In this swatch I used three thin layers to get full coverage on my nails. The polish itself is very creamy and easy to apply.The shade has just the perfect amount of pink without it being too girly. to me there seems to be a hint of purple in the undertones. And I think this is why it works well when I am tanned. I wouldn't state it was just another one of those boring nudes, its a mysterious shade, a clean cut fresh nude that overall works well.

I also found that it was not streaky at all which I love. No hassle. I cant explain this colour to the fullest and the way it deserves as the pictures don’t do a good job of sharing its beauty.

I know there are a million nudes out there; and believe me I have tried A LOT but this milky shade works well when tanned and I can’t quite put my finger on it or tell you why but it does. Youre going to have to try it out and let me know what you think!

MY TOP TEN MAC LIPSTICKS - Review and Swatches.

Within my beautiful yet very large collection of Mac lipsticks I managed to pick out ten gems, it wasn’t easy and I actually struggled a lot, I kept asking myself why Eman, why have you put yourself through this! However I won the challenge and managed to pick out my top ten. I absolutely adore Mac lipsticks; this will probably never change.. but who said that was a bad thing?

Here Goes...These are in no particular order. I wouldnt want to go through even more torture.. i love them all!

Natural Lighting

1: Politely pink

So just like you guys, I read reviews before buying most things (not everything of course!) when reading up on this colour It was said by many people that it worked better on people who already have quite pigmented lips, so I thought I’d give it a try as I do have a tint to my lips. As per usual, texture-wise politely pink is not the best on dry or chapped lips. it catches the light. Politely Pink is set in between ‘Please Me’ and ‘Snob’.  just enough to add a glow to your face but it’s still quite demure.

2:Creme d’nude

Creme d’Nude has pink undertones with a slightly more frost finish to it. This lippie is usually my go to with a smokey eye look. Its there but doesn’t take the attention away from your eyes.I must admit it can dry out not long after wear, nothing a lil bit of chapstick can’t sort.

3:Peach Blossom

Peach Blossom falls under Mac’s cremesheen collection, I love love love the lasting power of the cremations and tend to gravitate towards them whenever I’m around a Mac counter, they have a great balance of moisture and pigment. Theres not much to say about this one, As you can tell the colour has peach tone, It’s a kind of your lips but - peachier. love wearing this in summer, looks great with a tan!

4:Angel

Again Angel has a frost finish, it is a soft pink. The application comes on sheer upon the first swipe, the colour is buildable with a opaque finish. . This is known to be one of Mac’s best selling colour and I’m not surprised at all. it is the perfect everyday your lips but better shade. I love to pair this colour with a light nude/clear gloss..beautiful!  Angel is constantly being compared next to Mac’s Creme Cup, I must admit, it’s a close call, Angel shows to have a tiny touch of lilac and slightly brighter.

5:PLEASE ME

Slightly matte with a sheen yellow toned pink, I usually get a solid 4-5 hours of wear time with this colour. Its a funny colour that looks different on just about everyone. On me it's a subtle muted, toned-down pink. we all have those days when you don’t want to look dolled up or heavy handed with the make up, please me is great for that perfect girl next door pout.

6:Honey Love

If you’re looking for the perfect beige, then this is the one. Love honey is right up my street, it is a beautiful beige with specs of pink. It is purely an opaque shade. you can’t ask for better colour payoff. I find it tricky to find a beige shade that does not bleed and this one took me by surprise. 10 out of 10 for sure. perfect for them summer nights. glides on buttery, Matte texture with no shimmers (love the idea of that). I found the lasting power was not the best, 3-4 max…on me anyway. I say this is a works best with a full on make up look and really complements dark eye looks the best.

7:MEHR

After several attempts..finally managed to get my hands on Mehr.  is best described as a dirty, pink with a blue undertone  it is definitely a cool-toned colour. This is one of my newest additions to my mac lipstick collection and i have not let me out of my sight. I love an all-rounder lipstick and that’s what Meh is, I can wear it with anything, it is of a matte finish however its application is great, it slides smoothly on the lips even without lip balm on, very lips creamy then settles to a matte finish.

8:Velvet teddy

I’ve found the one.Ted, Ted, Tedddyyyy. why do I love you so. this is probably the most wanted Mac lipstick ever… Thanks to Kylie Jenner! This was the game changer of all lipsticks for me. It is a matte warm,  nude with a beautiful brown undertone. My go to colours are always nude shades and this to me is the Cherry on top.. of my very big lipstick cake.

In my opinion velvet teddy is not a particularly cool or warm tone. I personally don't use this colour with a lip liner, Honestly I think it works perfectly on its own. I can’t say enough about this lipstick as it speaks for itself, it is beautiful no wonder I always have to go through a goose chase to get hold of one; the only down point is that it is always sold out!

9:Rebel

If I had to choose one colour for life, it would be Rebel. it is a gorgeous gorgeous, tasty dark berry. You can build the darkness of the colour by applying more. It is very cool and blue-based, which I love as it does a great job of making my teeth look whiter than they actually are. As you can tell cool tone lipsticks are the ones for me.

When applying this lipstick do ensure your lips are not dry or cracked, work in that lip scrub and apply some balm and you’re good to go! Rebel has a satin finish. slightly matte with a slight sheen. It doesn’t have the best lasting power, intact probably one of the worst out of the bunch. it has a tendency to mark or stain anything you touch, which is normal for such a bold colour. so watch out!

10:RIRI WOO

ooo one of Mac’s most talked about lipsticks! Riri woo is a retro matte texture and yes it has Rihanna’s name on it but no its not any different to their other matte lipsticks. in general I do not have dry lips, but this does dry out my lips, quite quick after application - wearing a thin layer of Vaseline under this one is a must for me. the colour payoff and pigmentation is a eye-catcher. wow is all I can say on this one. I like to build up the colour as i find one swipe doesn’t do it for me. Loved it so much I had to grab 3 for backups! - Very flattering shade for many different skin tones.

A girl can never have too many lipsticks..Who agrees? Tell me your top ten.

Ciaté X Olivia Palermo - Review and Swatch

My style icon, The Beautiful and sophisticated Olivia Palermo has just launched her first collection for Ciate 

Olivia is set to launch four collections this year as she currently holds the role as Guest Creative Director for Ciaté.

The packing for this collection  is right up my ally. I'm a sucker for all things gold! its sleek, chic and feminie. 

Of course being a special edition they are more expensive than your normal Ciaté polishes that retail for £9.  The Olivia Palermo range retail for £17 and are available online and in stores now.

Olivia has chosen three shades, that in my opinion are very safe.. not that I'm complaining. i have burst where i get creative and experiment with different colours on my nails.. However, i always find myself crawling back to my nudes and reds; hence why i love this collection. Olivia has launched a Nude, Red and Coral. I love Ciaté polishes overall as they are known for their colour pay off. Opaque, thick and most importantly for me, very glossy.. (Most of the times i can get away with not using a top coats with Ciaté polishes)

The three shades are Sunday's - Her 'off duty nude', Hutch - Her 'go to red' and Nantucket - Her 'haute vacation coral'. 

I Purchased " Sundays "  online and fell in love with it so much that I immeditaly jumped back online and purchased the rest of the collection. I love a good nude. Optically this one, i love its gel-like thickness. Nudes are my go to colour; especially when tanned! They give you that girly yet sophisticated look and you can wear it with anything! (I have this weird thing that if my nail colour doesn't match with my clothes.. i will take it off) 

I feel that Olivia played it safe, yet sophisticated for her first launch, I was expecting something more. however will just have to wait for the next collections to launch, I'm sure she will shock us and give us that something special,different and unique.

Weekend Getaway - Amsterdam - Pictures

Amsterdam by far is one of my faviorte cities I have ever visited.  I loved loved LOVED it!  I didn't stay for long, a short (but sweet) weekend get away with my sister and our friends. Living in London, getting there was nothing but a 45 minute flight! All in all, the flight felt like a breeze, quick flick through a mag and we were there!   

Amsterdammer's in a nut shell were the friendliest, happiest people I have ever met. the City overall is a calm, relaxed, happy - chilled out place and I think we all know why! 

When travelling the most important thing for me is to be in good walking shoes; as there is always so much to explore - and only so much my feet can take! I also love to be hands free - Cross body bags at the ready! Im not saying I always get it right, but I like to try (too many bad experiances X_X)  This time round there were zero complaints..woo hoo! And because of this I decided to share a few snaps of some of my favourite looks and moments for you guys.

Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon - Review and swatches.

At first it took a lot of convincing.. £19 for an eyeshadow?! really Eman..? I lost to the voice in my head and eventually ended up purchasing all eight!  X_X (Over the space of a few months) 
Trust me once you get yourself to a Charlotte Tilbury counter you ask yourself why you never had before. 

I can't express how much I love, love, love, love, LOVE the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleons! I particularly am obsessing over two colours Golden Quarts and smoky Emerald having hazel eyes I feel that Charlotte really hit the nail on the head as these colours are amazing. every time I have worn them I get numerous questions and compliments.

The main downfall I have experienced is that they need to be sharpened after almost every use; Given the super silky soft texture. Because of this you will lose some product with every sharpen.. but.. we knew this already.. and it doesn’t bother us right??? well… it kind of bothers me.. but then I realise that I don’t finish a lot of make up that often as I move onto the next! I personally feel that they work with or without a primer. Application of the pencils is great, I kinda just scribble everywhere! They can be quite harsh and rough to blend over the lid which is why id promote in using a primer as a base first. 

Tried and tested - They are easily removed with an oil cleanser and they don’t stain the eyelid!!! This kind of result always makes me happy!I just wish they invested in better caps on the pencils as they are not very secure! Mine tend to end up under my bed or lost somewhere in that never..ever... ending bag of mine! They are by far the best eyeshadow pencils I have every tried. very creamy, soft and pigmented. 

Smoky emerald has a blackish emerald base with Gold, Lime AND Pink Shimmers.It is pure lush! Golden Quartz has a more brownish background with goldfish shimmer. The colour chameleons lasts for around 10-14 hours without budging, which is their main selling point. You really won't believe it until you try it! even I was a bit spectacle at first.

Its really hard to choose as they are all so so beautiful but but but if I had too..id say out of the eight id say Smoky Emerald and Golden Quartz have the best colour pay off, the best texture of the 6 shades, they are rich in colour and are very. opaque and best of all.. no patchiness - Wooo! These two colours especially never leave my makeup bag.. I carry them with me always. They are such game changers!I found that the key to using Colour Chameleons as an eyeliner really comes down the brush used with the product. 

Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils are , £19 each and some in a range of eight colours there are four colours recommend for day and four colours for night to suit all eye colours.                 Golden Quartz and Smokey Emerald are the day and night Colours recommend for Hazel eyes
Champagne diamonds and Black diamonds are the day and night colours recommended for Blue eyes.
Dark Pearl and Amber Haze are the day and night colours recommended for Brown eyes.
Bronzed Garnet and Amethyst Aphrodisiac are day and night colours recommended for Green eyes. 


I purchased mine at the Selfridges, London counter.Staff are very friendly and helpful.
